Kitchen Sink Applesauce Quick Bread

Put it all in there! Start with the base recipe for this quick bread and then add whatever dried fruit and nuts you’ve got hanging out in your pantry. Delish and easy.


  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, lightly scooped
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour, lightly scooped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup plain applesauce
  • 1/3 cup low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup packed dried apples, chopped
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • Turbinado sugar, for sprinkling


  1. Preheat the oven to 350’F and coat a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the oil, applesauce, milk, sugar, brown sugar and eggs until combined. Pour into flour mixture and stir gently to combine. Be careful not to over-mix.
  3. Fold in dried fruits and nuts and pour mixture into prepared baking pan. Top with Turbinado sugar and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.


  • Use any mix dried fruit to make 3/4 cup, the options are truly endless! Just be sure to chop them before adding them.
  • Don’t have pecans? No worries, swap them out for another nut, or mix of nuts or mix of nuts and seeds. It will still be amazing!
