Jalapeño Honeydew Salsa
I refuse to make this post about Cinco de Mayo. Instead, I want to talk about salsa. It’s one of my favorite condiments for so many reasons. This post is a profession of my love for salsa. For reading it, you will be rewarded with my super fresh Jalapeño Honeydew Salsa, perfect for ANY day, not just Cinco de Mayo! 🙂
Salsa Or Ketchup?
Name a condiment that works with almost any food! If you’re my brother, you will claim that ketchup is the answer. And while I do share his enthusiasm for that magical tomato condiment, I would argue that salsa is way more versatile. In my opinion salsa is a championship food that can turn ho-hum dishes into super yum dishes (ha! I’ve been hanging out with my 4 year old too much!)!
Why Salsa Works
Salsa makes so much sense as a way to jazz up any meal. Not only will it easily add nutrition (all of those fruits and veggies!), but it will also add so much flavor. Here’s an example – think of plain boneless, skinless chicken breast. Excited? No, I didn’t think so. Now, think of that plain, boneless chicken breast topped with a super fresh strawberry, tomato and balsamic salsa? Sound fantastic? Yes, I thought so! See, super jazzy! And it works with more than just chicken. You can use salsas on fish tacos or on top or any of your favorite Mexican foods. It’s perfect on grain salads or veggie salads and works on all cuts of meat, poultry and seafood. So many options!
Jalapeño Honeydew Salsa
Now that you know how awesome salsas are, it’s time to think “outside the box” when it comes to them! Think all salsas need tomatoes? No way! You can make them out of any fruits or veggies. Some of my favorite salsas are fruit-based salsas. They add so much freshness to a dish and sometimes that unexpected sweetness is just what you need! That’s why I love this Jalapeño Honeydew Salsa. It’s unexpected and so refreshing! Try it with tortilla chips or use it as a topping for grilled black cod! Oh yum!

I agree with you on salsa too. It is so versatile and along with mustard is top on my favorite condiments list. This is super unique!
Thanks so much for the comment! Cheers to salsa!
HONEYDEW!!! GENIUS!!! Your tease on Insta yesterday looked like cukes, but I love this sweet and spicy creation even more!!!!
I love leaving people guessing! I think cucumbers would be great too by the way, even added with this honeydew! 🙂
So creative!!! Totally stumped me! I too am a salsa fan like crazy, but, also feel your brother, tomato ketchup (Heinz or Hunts only, no store brand here lol). I sadly can’t try this (the whole melon allergy) BUT do know a Mr. CEO who will be head over heels for this! That strawberry salsa idea with some jalapeños, count me in!
I know you can’t do melons, but this totally works with other fruit too! Try it with champagne mangos!!! 🙂
I love fruit-based salsas! Making my watermelon salsa and citrus salsa for a dinner party tomorrow night. Definitely can’t wait to try this one!
I love them too! Oh, and watermelon salsa sounds devine! 🙂
